Biography


Curtis James Jackson (born on July 6 1975 in South Jamaica, Queens, New York), known professionally as 50 Cent, is an African American rapper. Also known by the nicknames fifties Cent, rose to fame with the massive commercial success of his albums Get Rich or Die Tryin 'and The Massacre, and two multi-platinum selling about 16 million copies worldwide. Jackson is known for his gangsta image, and for having received nine shots and stay alive.



Curtis grew up in a neighborhood known as South Jamaica, located in Queens, New York. Under the poverty, her mother was murdered in his house because of drug problems, so the rapper had to be cared for by their grandparents. The young man soon became a gangster and was known in his neighborhood with the nickname "the young Caesar" and as a boy by carrying dangerous weapons and a lot of money in cash to the institute, which drove him on countless occasions. This reputation has helped 50 Cent to be recognized in New York before burning a disc with a larger label.



Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC discovered his talent and hired him for his label over a short period of time. After leaving Jay, the rapper began working with the producers of Hip-Hop Track Masters. When signed by Columbia Records, 50 Cent's career was launched after the recording of the controversial but successful single "How to Rob." In this song critical of many rappers and the industry itself of the Hip-Hop.


The next single, "Ghetto Qu'ran", it led to some disputes with Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, the leader of a group linked to the drug (exactly with cocaine and crack) known as the Supreme Team. The song talks about drug trafficking, and appoints many in the business of this illegal practice. His debut album, "The Power Of The Dollar" has been postponed due to controversies surrounding Curtis, and by numerous fights with rappers who are affiliated with McGriff.

After recording several mixtape, Eminem was interested in working with him. When Eminem attracted the attention of Dr. Dre, 50 Cent helped to sign a recording contract with Interscope Records. The rapper was also the first to sign a joint work between Shady Records and Aftermath Entertainment Eminem dr. Dre. 50 Cent appeared on the soundtrack to the movie 8 Mile (the original title Miles 8), with the single "Wanksta," an instant success on BET, MTV and many radio stations around the country.
